Kimberly Rosenfeld
Lecturer
Dr. Kimberly Rosenfeld is a lecturer at UCLA’s School of Education and Information Studies, where she teaches graduate-level courses in philosophy of education, cultural studies, critical media literacy, and educational technology. She earned her Ph.D. in Education from UCLA, with a specialization in Cultural Studies and Philosophy of Education.
Her scholarship examines how technology, media, and ideology shape educational experience and human development. Specifically, she explores how students engage with technology not merely as passive users but as active thinkers and meaning-makers. Her earlier work includes Digital Online Culture, Identity, and Schooling in the Twenty-First Century (Palgrave Macmillan) and a chapter in the Handbook of Research on Media Literacy in the Digital Age (IGI Global). Her current research focuses on the cultural and ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence in education, with a forthcoming publication on AI and epistemology in the classroom.
Beyond the classroom, Dr. Rosenfeld led Cerritos College’s participation in the AAC&U AI Institute and serves as the inaugural chair of the Faculty Senate AI Committee. Her work in AI education emphasizes ethical adoption, faculty development, and inclusive innovation across California’s public higher education system.
She is also a civic engagement leader: co-host of the statewide Civic Dialogues series, board member of the National Issues Forums Institute (NIFI), and faculty mentor for the College Corps program, where she supports student leadership and democratic participation. In recognition of her leadership and contributions as Chair of multiple departments and initiatives, she received Cerritos College’s Diversity Award, along with statewide commendations.
Dr. Rosenfeld is committed to preparing educators and students to navigate the evolving intersections of technology, democracy, and human development with agency, critical awareness, and public purpose.
