The 2021 Commencement of the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies was celebrated by a virtual ceremony on June 12. The pre-recorded event will be available for a year on the Marching Order website.

Wasserman Dean Christina (Tina) Christie led the ceremony with a keynote address for the Class of ’21 and their families and friends. The first cohort of undergraduates in the Education and Social Transformation program were represented with speeches by Vivian Fang, Nathan Kirk, Kathy Sung, and Karlesha Van Holten, who achieved their bachelor of arts degrees in the new major.

SE&IS graduation traditions continued with speeches by Mariana Barragan Torres, who graduated with her Ph.D. in Social Research Methodology from the UCLA Department of Education, and Alisha Cunzio, who graduated with her MLIS from the UCLA Department of Information Studies. In addition, “Hail to the Hills of Westwood” was performed by Jordan Williamson, who graduated with his M.Ed. in Student Affairs.

Following the ceremony, graduates who submitted photos and/or messages, as well as specific SEIS programs (e.g., Teacher Education Program), can be searched for in the Marching Order recording.
