The UCLA Pritzker Center for the Strengthening of Children and Families is presenting a free three-week Summer Child Welfare Academy, beginning on July 7. The Academy is a multidisciplinary program for UCLA students interested in learning more about foster care and youth justice, and the related issues of education, law, health care, public health, social work, mental health, and more. The sessions will take place remotely, July 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, and 23.
“The UCLA Pritzker Center is pleased to offer the Summer Child Welfare Academy to all UCLA students for the first time,” says Tyrone C. Howard, director of the UCLA Pritzker Center. “This unique program will allow us to reach a range of students from across campus with foundational knowledge about the child welfare system, and its related issues. Our goal is to introduce students to this field, and help them consider the many ways to become involved—as a future teacher, lawyer, psychologist, therapist, social worker, doctor or simply as an informed community member. Join us!”
All UCLA students, from any program or discipline, are welcome to apply. Applications are due June 12.
