By John McDonald

In person and online meetings offer detailed information about applying for transformational education leadership program.

The UCLA Principal Leadership Institute (PLI) prepares a diverse community of educators to be social justice leaders committed to improving educational opportunities for the most vulnerable and historically underserved students.  Since its inception in 2000, more than 850 leaders have graduated from this groundbreaking program, and PLI is now recruiting potential candidates for its 2023-2024 cohort.

“Our goal is to prepare the next generation of equity minded urban school leaders who are courageous and intentional about creating opportunities that will make a substantial difference in the lives of the students they serve.” said Nancy Parachini, the director if the UCLA Principal Leadership Institute.

The Principal Leadership Institute offers a rigorous 14-month program where candidates earn a Master’s degree and a California Tier 1 Administrative Credential.   Many PLI graduates have gone on to occupy leadership roles in LA Schools as well as school districts across the state.

PLI is offering in-person information sessions this summer and fall for those interested in participating in the program as part of the 2023-2024 cohort. The information sessions offer potential candidates the opportunity to learn about the program in detail and hear from alumni. The information sessions also provide details about the application process, tuition fees and financial assistance.

The in-person sessions are schedule to take place at UCLA’s Moore Hall, Wednesday, August, 31; Saturday, September 17; and, Saturday, October 29.  Online information sessions are also available beginning in September, with sessions scheduled through January, 2023. Writing workshops to help candidate prepare their statement of purpose for applying to the Principal Leadership Institute are also available.

Educators interested in applying can find more information about PLI and register for the information sessions here. Registration is required for participation in the information sessions.
