Community Engagement

UCLA K-12 partnership schools sites and research centers offer unparalleled opportunities for students in the Education and Social Transformation major to work directly with students and educators.

About

Overview of Community Engagement

A critical component to the major is a focus on community engagement. In coursework centered around community engagement, students are assessed on their learning based on their integration of community-based experience and academic content. Students interested in practicum and fieldwork may seek out a community-based internship in exchange for course credit. For those interested in research and evaluation, students work with a faculty member who provides guidance and mentorship while conducting educational research with one of our community partners.

UCLA Ed&IS offers unparalleled opportunities for students in the Education and Social Transformation major to work directly with students and educators, as well as researchers in many projects, partnerships, programs, and activities that are strengthening the fabric of our communities.
