Undergraduate Community Engagement
UCLA Ed&IS offers unparalleled opportunities for students in the Education and Social Transformation major to engage directly with students and educators, as well as researchers in many projects, partnerships, programs, and activities that are strengthening the fabric of our communities. This experience is centered in our program learning outcomes, specifically:
The ability to engage respectfully with community partners to build meaningful, reciprocal relationships in ways that learn from and contribute to positively impacting educational opportunities and outcomes for diverse communities in the greater Los Angeles area and beyond.
3 Pathways (Coursework, Practicum/Internship, or Research)
In coursework centered around community engagement, students are assessed on their learning based on their integration of community-based experience and academic content. Students interested in practicum and fieldwork may seek out a community-based internship in exchange for course credit. For those interested in research and evaluation, students work with a faculty member who provides guidance and mentorship while conducting educational research with one of our community partners.
Interning or volunteering in K-12 schools, non-profits, or other community organizations
You will get to work directly with students and educators, as well as researchers in many projects, partnerships, programs, and activities that are strengthening the fabric of our communities.
