Major and Pre-Major Internal Applications
(For Current UCLA Students Only)
The Spring 2025 application for Fall 2025 admission has closed. The application for the Education and Social Transformation major and pre-major will open again in Fall 2025.
Major and Pre-major Internal ApplicationAdmissions Information
After admission to UCLA, students must complete the internal admission process to officially declare the Education and Social Transformation major and transfer to the School of Education and Information Studies.
Preparation for the Major
Two lower-division courses (EDUC 10 or EDUC 11 and EDUC 35) must be taken for a letter grade and passed with a grade of “C” or better. Undergraduate students may repeat a total of 16 units, and only those courses in which they receive a grade of “C-” or lower. “NP” or “U” grades may be repeated to gain unit credit. Repetition of a course more than once requires the approval of the Dean and is granted only under extraordinary circumstances.
Admission Process
The internal application for continuing students is only available in Fall, Winter, and Spring. The application process will be for admission into the major or pre-major for the following term. For example, the Fall 2023 application is for admission into the major or pre-major effective Winter 2024.
After submitting the online application, students will be notified via MyUCLA Messages about the results of their application. Students who are offered admission to the major or pre-major will be sent their offer letter via MyUCLA Messages with the required admission forms attached. The required admission forms must be submitted to our office in order to accept the offer of admission.
