“The Campus Color Line: College Presidents and the Struggle for Black Freedom” by Eddie R. Cole, has been recognized with the American Education Research Association (AERA) Division J Outstanding Publication Award.
Cole is an associate professor of higher education at the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies. His book, “The Campus Color Line,” published by Princeton University Press, shines a bright light on the role college presidents have played in shaping the battle for racial equality.
The Division J Outstanding Publication Award annually honors a specific publication judged as making a substantial contribution to the literature and/or practice of higher education that, “moves the field forward in new ways.”
The award will be presented at the AERA Annual Conference, Sunday, April 24, 2022.
As part of AERA, Division J is dedicated to “expanding and deepening knowledge around issues that influence postsecondary education.” AERA Division J focuses on scholars and practitioners who study postsecondary issues such as postsecondary organizations, policy, college student experiences and transitions, and postsecondary curricular issues.
