Ph.D. in Education
Stefanie Mathewson is returning to UCLA SEIS after 30 years in the field to pursue her PhD in Education with Dr. Megan Franke. She taught in public elementary education for 29 years, as adjunct professor in math methods at CSUN for several semesters and has been connected with the UCLA Mathematics Project at Center X since 2018. She lives in Northridge with her husband Darin, son Luke and three puppies, Cody, Jax & Finn. Her daughter Hannah lives and works on the Westside. In addition to being passionate about mathematical learning spaces that humanize and liberate young people and educators, she is also deeply involved in the sport of figure skating as an official for U.S. Figure Skating.
