Ph.D. in Education
Shivani is a qualitative scholar in the Social Research Methods division of the Education Department. She is thrilled to be working with Dr. Ananda Marin to explore video micro-ethnographic and design-based research methods to co-design teacher learning opportunities for K-12 Special Educators. Prior to beginning her doctoral journey, Shivani taught Special Education in NYC for five years. Shivani’s research centers affect and embodiment in the design of research methods that both explore and support the development of teachers’ in-the-moment decision making in ethical and just ways. Currently, Shivani’s research is situated within the co-design and implementation of the Education Specialist credentialist pathway within the Teacher Education Program (TEP) at UCLA.
