Paulo Freire Institute Summer Program 2026
Organized by the Paulo Freire Institute at UCLA’s School of Education and Information Studies, this immersive summer program offers graduate-level coursework for U.S. and international students through UCLA Extension and is open to all students. Led by Distinguished Professor Carlos Alberto Torres, the program brings together global perspectives on education, critical pedagogy, and social justice through instruction by renowned scholars and practitioners.
Academic Information
Organized by the Paulo Freire Institute (PFI) at UCLA School of Education and Information Studies (SEIS), this Summer 2026 program (July 13–31) offers two graduate-level courses for U.S. and international students* through UCLA Extension (9 credits upon successful completion). The program is led by Carlos Alberto Torres, Distinguished Professor, Department of Education, UCLA, Founding Director of the Paulo Freire Institute (with Paulo Freire) and UNESCO UCLA Chair in Global Learning and GCE.

*If international students need a letter of admission for their visa, we shall be happy to prepare one and send it to them.

- Tuition: USD $2,600 (airfare, housing, and living expenses not included)
- Payment schedule: $1,600 by April 3, 2026; $1,000 by May 4, 2026
- Refund policy: If a student withdraws after May 18, 2026, a non-refundable fee of $800 applies.
- Housing: Students arrange their own housing (e.g., Airbnb or other options near UCLA).
