GSE&IS Salutes UCLA for No. 1 Public Research University Ranking

UCLA has been named the top public research university in the United States according to this year’s annual ranking by U.S. News & World Report, tied with UC Berkeley. The report also ranked UCLA No. 11 among all public or private American universities, and at No. 15 worldwide among 1,102 of the world’s leading research universities. Last week, UCLA was ranked No. 1 among U.S. public research universities in the 2017-18 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

“While all such rankings are somewhat arbitrary, the rise of UCLA to the top slot nevertheless makes all of us at Graduate School of Education and Information Studies immensely proud,” says Wasserman Dean Marcelo Suárez-Orozco. “As UCLA’s oldest school, GSE&IS salutes the brilliant members of the Bruin family: faculty, staff, students, alumnus and donors for this superb achievement. Democracies need strong public universities devoted freely and vigorously to search for truth, beauty, and goodness. We are proud to be Bruins!”
