Bio Sketch
Christine Shen received her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from UCLA. Currently, Dr. Shen directs the Community School Initiatives, which includes (but is not limited to) the Mann UCLA Community School and the UCLA Community School. Dr. Shen has over 15+ years of teaching, supporting school-based efforts to increase achievement for all students, and serving as a liaison with local, county, state department of education and partnership members to support large-scale reform efforts in Los Angeles. Dr. Shen was part of the founding group for the launch of the first start-up charter middle school in Los Angeles, served as a senior advisor for the City of Los Angeles, Office of the Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to secure 15 LAUSD elementary, middle and high schools for direct mayoral management, and served as a liaison to LAPD and other city departments to ensure safe school passages for over 100 schools in Los Angeles Unified School District. She is currently working closely with school-based teams, community organizations, UCLA partners and families to collaborate, connect and create improved student learning outcomes for our two UCLA Community School sites.
