Commencement FAQs
All graduates should arrive by 12:45 p.m. to LATC. Graduates enter through Gate A. All Graduates should have a Graduate Ticket issued by CTO. Tickets can either be printed or shown on phone and will be scanned at gate.
It will take time to get through the entry and get lined up. Each student needs to check in and get a card to give to the announcer. Each student needs to be placed in line. We must move the student lines from the staging area to the graduate seating. It all takes time and cannot be done in just a few minutes when there are over 400 graduating students.
All guests will line up alongside the wall West of Drake Stadium, along Charles E. Young Drive West. The gates will open at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the start of the ceremony. They can begin lining up at any time.

When the Events staff begins moving the lines for entry, ADA guests only (along with their family/friends) will enter through Gate B. All other guests will enter through Gate D. ADA guests only (along with their family/friends) will enter through Gate B. They will then go along the east side of LATC to the elevator. They will take the elevator up to the seating level.
No, it is general admission seating. Guests can choose to sit where they would like to sit.
Closest Parking are in Lots 4, 7, 8, 9. There will be shuttles from lots 2 & 3 to Luskin; Guests will have to walk up Bruin Walk from Luskin to Line Up for entering the stadium.
LATC has its list of prohibited items. See attached separate list of items. Any items that may not be allowed in can be left with the bag check, either on SW corner of IM Field or corner of Pauley Pavilion. Guests will walk through magnetometers and have their clear bags checked.
No. Guests and graduates are encouraged to bring their own sealed water bottle into the stadium.
No, unfortunately not. Hats and sunscreen are strongly encouraged.
Graduating students are not permitted to bring bags except for small bags that fit the 4.5″ x 6.5″ dimensions and a sealed water bottle. Graduates will also have regalia checked to make sure there is clothing underneath and go through a magnetometer.
There is a building inside the LATC after entering through Gate D for guests near section 11 as well as through breezeway by section 4. For graduates, there is a restroom to be used during line up in the breezeway near the lineup area.
If there are no disruptions, we anticipate the ceremony to last approximately 2 – 2.5 hours.
No, there is no livestream of the ceremony. However, guests are welcome to record any portion of the ceremony they wish.
No, all graduates must stay through the end of the ceremony. After your name is called, you return to your seat.
No, the graduate seating is separated from the guest seating in the LATC.
All faculty and graduates will recess out through Gate A toward Bruin Walk. Graduates should plan to contact their family and friends via phone to connect after the ceremony.
