Since 2004, the Distinguished Alumni Award has been given at the annual Spring Awards Dinner by the UCLA Library and Information Studies Alumni Association (LISAA) and the UCLA Information Studies Department to a graduate of the department in recognition of significant accomplishments in or service to the library profession, the Department of Information Studies, or the advancement of knowledge in library and information studies field. Beginning in 2012 the Distinguished Service Award has been given, on an occasional basis, by LISAA and the Information Studies Department to any member of the Department of Information Studies community in recognition of their service to the department and the library and information studies profession.
