Dr. Destiny McLennan was born and raised in Los Angeles and received her PhD from UCLA in higher education and organizational change, with a focus on using qualitative methods to amplify the voices of students who have been marginalized. During her doctoral program, she found that her mental health needed to be more of a priority in her life, so she started practicing yoga more consistently and couldn’t help but want to share this practice with others. She is a 200+ hour certified yoga instructor specializing in Yin and currently teaches at Hot 8 yoga and offers private classes.

Destiny will be combining a yin practice with vinyasa. Yin focuses on a complete relaxation of the muscles to reach the subtle body and its purpose is to put stress onto the connective tissue in order to lubricate the joints which increase range of motion and joint mobility. After 30 minutes of yin, Destiny will transition to 30 minutes of vinyasa – the type of yoga most people are used to – that involves connecting the breath to movement, building heat within the body, balancing postures, and strength building.
